Paris, France VFT: History of Paris
Paris, one of the most visited cities in the
world. It is a popular
tourist destination for multiple reasons, one of which is it's
intriguing history. Why do people love the history of Paris? If you
read some of it maybe you will understand why there are so many people
who love the long yet always interesting history. Who knows, maybe you
will end up being one of the many people who also loves it.
Britannica.com is an online
encyclopedia. I am giving you a link to Britannica's history of Paris
page so you can read more about the history of Paris. A fact that I
found to be very interesting is that Paris was first known by that name
in 4th century even though people had already lived in those same exact
lands for centuries.
www.britannica.com
Britannica had some interesting facts about
Paris didn't it? Do not worry because I still have more planned for
you. I found a website called www.paris.fr and I thought it had some
cool information that Britannica didn't have. Paris (the website) has
blogs, French politics, and many other features (some in French and
some in English). I found it interesting to read how in WWII one reason
the city was saved was because Dietrich von Choltitz, a German
commander, ignored Hitler's commands to burn the all of the hisoric
buildings (maybe he didn't like the thought of so many historic
buildings being no more than ashes).

The last website that I want you to visit is
www.history.com. The link I will give will be for the French Revolution
(even though a great part of the Revolution wasn't fought Paris). My
reasoning for this is because the French Revolution greatly impacted
Paris and helped form it into the modern day Paris. It must have stunk
for the French to finally end the Revolution and then end up with
Napoleon.
