Process

Step 1: To begin your journey through the water cycle, you need to know how it works! You will visit the sites on the webpage 'resources' to get an understanding of the water cycle. With this information, you will create a diagram of the water cycle. You can also research the cycle if you want even more information about it! Make sure your diagram explain precipitation, condensation, evaporation, and collection. For extra credit, you can also add sublimation and transpiration.

Step 2: After understanding how the water cycle works, you may be able to explain the affect of the water cycle on the Earth and other parts of the atmosphere it influences or is influenced by. Take out your science journal, and write a paragraph explaining this. Additional websites that may help you are on the page 'resources.'

Step 3: To begin your journey through the water cycle, you will be assigned a specific role within your team on scientists. It will consist of 4-6 members, depending on what your teacher decides:
  • Evaporation Expert
  • Condensation Consultant
  • Precipitation Professional
  • Collection Connoisseur
  • Sublimation Specialist
  • Transpiration Technician
If you are the Evaporation Expert your job is to:
  • Use the internet and other sources such as books from your library to find out more information about evaporation and its role in the water cycle. This includes finding out information about what happens during evaporation, including specific examples.
  • Write a section of your journey as a water drop who experiences evaporation.
  • Work with your other group members to create a journal of the entire journey of a water droplet through the water cycle.
  • Work with your group to create a presentation (PowerPoint, book, poster, play, etc.) to convey your descriptions of your journey through the water cycle to your classmates.
If you are the Condensation Consultant your job is to:
  • Use the internet and other sources such as books from your library to find out more information about condensation and its role in the water cycle. This includes finding out information about what happens during condensation, including specific examples.
  • Write a section of your journey as a water drop who experiences condensation.
  • Work with your other group members to create a journal of the entire journey of a water droplet through the water cycle.
  • Work with your group to create a presentation (PowerPoint, book, poster, play, etc.) to convey your descriptions of your journey through the water cycle to your classmates.
If you are the Precipitation Professional your job is to:
  • Use the internet and other sources such as books from your library to find out more information about precipitation and its role in the water cycle. This includes finding out information about what happens during precipitation, including specific examples.
  • Write a section of your journey as a water drop who experiences precipitation.
  • Work with your other group members to create a journal of the entire journey of a water droplet through the water cycle.
  • Work with your group to create a presentation (PowerPoint, book, poster, play, etc.) to convey your descriptions of your journey through the water cycle to your classmates.
If you are the Collection Connoisseur your job is to:
  • Use the internet and other sources such as books from your library to find out more information about collection and its role in the water cycle. This includes finding out information about what happens during collection, including specific examples.
  • Write a section of your journey as a water drop who experiences collection.
  • Work with your other group members to create a journal of the entire journey of a water droplet through the water cycle.
  • Work with your group to create a presentation (PowerPoint, book, poster, play, etc.) to convey your descriptions of your journey through the water cycle to your classmates.
If you are the Sublimation Specialist your job is to:
  • Use the internet and other sources such as books from your library to find out more information about sublimation and its role in the water cycle. This includes finding out information about what happens during sublimation, including specific examples.
  • Write a section of your journey as a water drop who experiences sublimation.
  • Work with your other group members to create a journal of the entire journey of a water droplet through the water cycle.
  • Work with your group to create a presentation (PowerPoint, book, poster, play, etc.) to convey your descriptions of your journey through the water cycle to your classmates.
If you are the Transpiration Technician your job is to:
  • Use the internet and other sources such as books from your library to find out more information about transpiration and its role in the water cycle. This includes finding out information about what happens during evaporation, including specific examples.
  • Write a section of your journey as a water drop who experiences transpiration.
  • Work with your other group members to create a journal of the entire journey of a water droplet through the water cycle.
  • Work with your group to create a presentation (Poweroint, book, poster, play, etc.) to convey your descriptions of your journey through the water cycle to your classmates.
